TURKEY SEASONED COLLARD GREENS
OR TURNIPS
 
4 lbs. greens & roots if desired
1/2 lb. smoked turkey legs, sliced
3 tbsp. Crisco

Cook turkey in a covered pot for 30 minutes. Wash greens. Put greens in pot with turkey and cook until well done. Drain and chop. Add seasoning if desired.

This is excellent. I cooked the turkey leg in the crockpot overnight. Next day - prepped the greens - added diced onion. Cooked collards & onion for a while - then added shredded smoked turkey meat. Did not use Crisco. Recipe is a keeper for those who love their collards. Ham hocks are almost non-existent this year - so smoked turkey leg is perfect sub. Thanks for submitting!
