APPLE SLICES 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg, separated
Milk
2/3 c. crushed corn flakes
5 c. Gravenstein apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift flour, sugar and salt; cut in shortening. Put egg yolk into a measuring cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to mixture; mix into a ball. Roll out half of dough to 13 x 11 inches and transfer to baking sheet. Cover with corn flakes, then apple slices.

Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Roll out other half of dough for top crust; place over apples; pinch edges together. Beat egg white until stiff; spread on top crust. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees) for 40 minutes. While hot, drizzle glaze over top. Cut into squares and serve.

GLAZE:

Mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
