APPLE CRISP 
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 tbsp. lemon juice
6 c. (about 2 lb.) apples
1 env. whipped topping mix
1/2 c. cold milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine crumbs, sugar, salt, lemon rind and spices. Add butter and lemon juice; blend well. Sprinkle half of crumb mixture into a buttered 8 inch square pan. Arrange the apples over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until crumbs are lightly browned and apples are tender.

Prepare whipped topping mix with milk and vanilla as directed on package. Top crisps. Serve warm or cool. Serves 8.
