OLD FASHIONED STACK CAKE | |
3/4 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 c. sorghum 3 eggs 1 c. milk 4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 3 c. dried apples, cooked and sweetened Season apples with cinnamon to taste. You may use any other spices if you wish. Mix thoroughly flour, salt, soda and baking powder by sifting three times. Cream shortening, then add sugar, a little at a time, beating thoroughly. To this, add flour and milk, alternately and beat until smooth. Roll out pie crust then, and cut in 7 or 8 inch circles. Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes or until brown. Should make about 8 or 9 layers. Stack with apples between layers. It should cure before cutting. |
