BLACKBERRY CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 c. buttermilk
1 c. blackberries, canned or frozen
1 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 eggs

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Mix softened butter with electric mixer. Add sugar and beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. End with the dry ingredients. Finally add the blackberries; mix well.

Pour into two 8 inch pans or one 9 x 13 inch cake pan greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cool before removing from pans.
