BIG RED 
1 head red cabbage, shred
1/2 c. vinegar
3/4 c. water
1 sm. onion, diced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. beer
1 peeled, cored, sliced apple
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. melted butter
1/4 tsp. pepper

Cook slowly until tender, about 2 hours.
