SHORTCAKE FOR STRAWBERRIES 
1/2 c. (1 stick) sweet butter, but up
2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Few grains nutmeg
2 egg yolks
1/3 c. milk
1 qt. (4 c.) strawberries
1 c. heavy cream

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Butter sides of 8" cake pan and line bottom with wax paper. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in sifter. Sift into large bowl. Work in the butter with pastry blender until mixture looks mealy. Beat egg yolks slightly, stir into flour. Add milk; stir well. Do not attempt smooth batter. Spoon into pan, smooth top with metal spatula. Bake at 450 degrees 12 minutes. Serve with strawberries and cream.
