BUTTERMILK BROWNIES 
1 c. butter
1/3 c. cocoa
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 slightly beaten eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

In a saucepan combine butter, cocoa and 1 cup water. Bring to boil; stir constantly. Remove from heat. In large bowl sift together flour, sugar, soda and salt; stir in eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Add cocoa mixture; mix until blended.

Pour into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Immediately pour frosting over brownies; spread evenly. Cool; cut into bars.

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
3 tsp. cocoa
3 tsp. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. vanilla

In saucepan mix butter, cocoa and buttermilk. Cook and stir until boiling; remove from heat. Beat in 2 1/4 cups confectioners sugar, walnuts and vanilla.
