PLAIN PIE PASTRY 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4-5 tbsp. ice water

Mix flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry cutter until the size of peas. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until a soft dough is formed. Work dough with hand. Roll out and place in pie pan. For a 2 crust pie, double the recipe.
