1/2 c. butter or Crisco 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. sifted flour 1 c. brown sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 c. coconut 1 c. nuts 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. flour 1/4 tsp. salt Combine butter, salt and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cream together thoroughly; add flour and blend well. Spread in a greased 8"x12" pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until delicately browned in 325 degree oven. Add brown sugar and vanilla to the beaten eggs, and beat until thick and foamy. Then add flour and baking powder, salt, coconut and nuts. Spread over baked crust. Bake for 25 minutes in 325 degree oven, cool before cutting (sprinkle with powdered sugar on top if desired). |
