1 c. unsweetened apple sauce
1 c. seedless raisins
1/2 c. shortening, butter
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice

In 8 x 8 inch pan, sift together dry ingredients; add raisins. Cream egg, sugar and shortening. Add mixed dry ingredients with apple sauce, fold gently after each addition. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour in 8 x 8 inch pan. Let stand 5 minutes. Frost with butter frosting; sprinkle with nuts.
