STUFFED DATE DROPS 
1 lb. dates
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1 (3 oz.) pkg. pecan or walnut halves
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sour cream

Stuff dates with nut halves. Cream shortening and sugar until light. Beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with sour cream to mixture. Stir in stuffed dates with 2 forks. Drop on greased cookie sheet (one date per cookie). Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

GOLDEN FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. water
3 c. confectioners sugar

Lightly brown butter; remove from heat and mix in vanilla. Add water and sugar. Frost cookie while still slightly warm.
