JUNE'S PRUNE CAKE 
1 c. cooked, chopped prunes
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. vegetable oil
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts

Sift flour, spices, salt, and soda. Add sugar. Stir in oil, beaten eggs. Then add buttermilk, prunes, nuts, and vanilla. Bake 40 minutes (or longer) until done in middle at 350 degrees in large, flat pan (13 x 9 x 2 inches).

SAUCE:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. butter
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. white syrup

Boil 7 minutes. Pour over warm cake. Let some get into cake and around edges. Use bowl of spoon to make dents in cake so sauce soaks in. Very moist.
