HOMEMADE MEAT SAUCE | |
2 cloves fresh garlic 1 lg. yellow or white onion 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 lb. ground beef 1 lb. sausage (hot or sweet) 3 (20 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes 1 1/2 tomato cans of water 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. parsley 1/2 tsp. oregano (opt.) 3 tsp. sugar Saute garlic and chopped onions in the oil and add crushed tomatoes, water, spices and bring to a boil then turn heat down to just above a simmer. Make meatballs, brown in oven, drain. Brown sausage in the oven, poke with a fork before draining. Add meat to the sauce and simmer for approximately 3 hours. Serve over spaghetti or your favorite pasta dish. Yield: enough for 3 dinners, freezes beautifully. |
