CORNISH PASTY 
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water

Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Stir in water. Divide dough into 3 parts. Put two parts together and roll out into oblong shape to fit a 9 x 13 inch pan. Line pan with pie crust.

FILLING:

2 lbs. ground beef
3 to 4 potatoes, sliced thin
4 to 5 carrots, shredded
1 chopped onion
Salt & pepper
butter

Starting with ground beef, layer filling in crust. Add chopped onions, salt, pepper to each layer. Add small pieces of butter to potato layer, before carrot layer. Repeat layers to top of pan. Roll out top crust and place over filling. Seal edges and pierce top with fork. Bake in preheated oven 400 degrees for 1/2 hour then lower oven temperature to 325 degrees and bake for about one hour more, fork goes through filling easily when done.
