C.'S CHRISTMAS FUDGE 
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. white Karo syrup
3/4 c. half & half
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate, grated
Pinch of salt
2 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Put Karo, sugar, half & half, grated chocolate and salt in heavy sauce pan. Cook until it forms a firm ball when tested in cold water. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Beat by hand until it begins to hold shape. Add nuts. Pour into casserole and cut into squares or quickly spoon in individual pieces on wax paper. The later makes attractive bite size pieces and was the way Creedie always made them.
