SOFT SUGAR COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter (must be butter)
1/2 c. lard
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter and lard together. Cream together with sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add mixture of flour, tartar and soda. Mix. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Roll out on a floured surface. Place on a non-greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes at 350 degrees. Cookies should not brown except slightly on bottom. Frost.
