GRANDMA'S GINGER COOKIES 
1 egg
1 c. white sugar
1 c. lard
2/3 c. molasses
1 tbsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. each ginger, cinnamon, cloves & salt
4 1/4 c. flour

Mix in order given and refrigerate overnight. Roll quite thick and cut out with cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for about 12 minutes in 350 degree oven.
