ROYAL FANS 
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. butter
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift 2 cups flour, add brown sugar. Cream butter and work into first mixture using finger tips. Add salt and vanilla. Roll 1/3 inch in thickness, cut and mark as fans. Brush over with yolk of egg diluted with 3/4 teaspoon water. Bake in slow oven, 325 degrees.
