2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour, soda and salt; set aside. Cream butter, shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons milk and mix well. Roll into balls. Flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar on cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until lightly brown on top.
