HAND DIPPED CANDLES
Wick, cut in 12 inch lengths, tied onto stick or pencil
3 lbs. wax
1/2 lb. steric acid (available in craft store)
Candle color or crayons (real wax crayons)
Hot plate

Cover work area with newspapers. Heat wax to liquid over double boiler situation, 140 degrees. (Use old pan or large juice can setting in pan of water.) Add water to wax mixture to bring level of wax near top of can (wax floats). Dip wick - poke with stick the first time - then dipping is easier. Dip down and up, do not leave candle in wax for more than a second. Dip and cool, dip and cool. Continue to desired thickness. Let drip over can. Makes about 20 - 8 inch candles. You will need to trim off bottom of candle with knife or scissors.
