CONGO BARS 
1 (16 oz.) pkg. brown sugar
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
3 eggs
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. "broken nutmeats" (do not grind)
2/3 c. shortening

Melt shortening until just melted - do not boil. Add brown sugar to melted shortening. Cool shortening/brown sugar mixture. Add 1 egg at a time mixing mixture after each egg.

Add dry ingredients to brown sugar mixture. Add nutmeats and chocolate chips. Bake in 9 x 12 inch pan at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes.
