DUTCH APPLE BREAD 
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. peeled, chopped apples
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs. Beat then add flour, buttermilk, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Fold in apples and nuts. Pour into greased loaf pan. Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
