SALT WATER TAFFY 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. corn starch
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla extract (or flavor of your choice)

Mix sugar and corn starch in saucepan. Stir in next 3 ingredients. Add butter and bring to a boil stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Then cook without stirring to 260 degrees or until hard ball stage. Remove from heat. Add flavoring. Pour into well greased 9 inch square pan. Let stand until cool enough to handle. Then pull until white and satiny in appearance.

Pull out into 1/2 inch strips and cut into 1 inch pieces. Wrap in wax paper.
