SUGAR COOKIES 
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. vegetable oil
1 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. plus 1 to 2 tbsp. self-rising flour

Cream together butter, shortening and sugars. Add eggs; beat well. Add flour, cream of tartar and vanilla. Mix well. Drop by 1/2 teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in 350°F oven until brown. NOTE: Sprinkle with granulated sugar before baking. Don't get too stiff with flour. Remove to rack immediately to cool when done. A cookie press may be used. I refrigerate dough if I don't cook all at once.
