CORN BREAD 
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. unbleached flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp. butter

In hot (400 degree) oven melt butter in shallow eight inch pan.

Mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Pour in milk and mix well. Pour hot butter out of shallow hot pan into cornmeal mixture and mix. Pour entire mixture back into shallow pan. Bake at 400. Done when sides pull away from pan and top is brown.
