CHOCOLATE CRINKLE COOKIES 
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate (or substitute 1 c. cocoa + 4 tbsp. shortening)
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
4 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt 1/2 cup shortening and 4 ounces chocolate or if using cocoa, melt 1/2 cup plus 4 tablespoons shortening and add cocoa, then stir. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add with nuts and mix well. Chill dough for several hours. Form level tablespoon into small balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Place on slightly greased cookie sheets 2" apart. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not over bake.
