UNCOOKED REFRIGERATED BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES | |
5 1/2 c. sliced cucumbers 1 green pepper, cut up 1 c. sliced onions 1 tbsp. salt water 1 c. vinegar 2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. celery seed 1 tsp. turmeric Combine cucumbers, bell pepper, onions and salt, cover with water. Let stand 1 hour, then drain. Mix together vinegar, celery seed, turmeric; bring to boil for 1 minute. Cool thoroughly. Pour vinegar mixture over drained cucumber combination. Place in container with lid and refrigerate at least 2 weeks before using. Makes 1/3 gallon (a little over a quart). |
