SAUSAGE BREAD | |
1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed 1 lb. Italian sausage, browned, drained and cooled 1 1/2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese 1/4 tsp. sweet basil 1 beaten egg Roll thawed bread dough to a 6 x 18 inch rectangle. Combine sausage, cheese, herbs and egg; mix well. Evenly spread sausage mixture over dough. Then, starting at one short end, roll up and pinch ends to secure. Transfer to greased bread pan and let rise. Baste with additional egg and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Variation: Spinach and sausage roll - add chopped, cooked, drained spinach with a little chopped garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper and grated cheese to above filling but omit Mozzarella cheese. |
