SPICE BARS 
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cover raisins with water and cook until tender. Drain, reserving 3/4 cup of juice. Cream shortening, sugar and egg, sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, soda and salt; add alternately with raisin liquid to creamed mixture, stir in raisins and chopped nuts.

Spread in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan or cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. When cool, spread on icing and cut into bars.

ICING:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar

Boil 2 minutes, stir constantly. Add 1/4 cup milk. Bring to boil. Add 2 cups sifted powdered sugar and spread on bars.
