STRAWBERRIES ROMANOFF 
1 1/2 pt. ripe strawberries
2-3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. curacoa; optional
Juice and grated rind of 1 lg. orange
1 c. heavy cream
Vanilla flavored sugar

Rinse and hull the strawberries. Dry thoroughly. Combine in a bowl with mixture of sugar, curacoa, orange juice, and grated peel. Pour over berries and refrigerate for several hours. Beat cream in a chilled bowl until soft peaks are formed. Beat in several tablespoons of vanilla flavored sugar until stiff peaks are formed. Put alternate layers of strawberries and sweetened cream in glasses or bowls. Chill before serving. This is both simple and elegant at the same time.
