1/4 lb. German sweet chocolate or 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate 2 1/2 tsp. water 1 tbsp. confectioners' sugar 1/4 c. chopped walnuts (optional) 1 egg, separated 1/2 c. cream, whipped Lady fingers or sponge cake Melt chocolate in double boiler. Add 2 1/2 teaspoons water and blend. Remove from heat. Add egg yolk, beating vigorously until blended. Add 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional). Blend. Fold in the egg white, stiffly beaten, and 1/2 cup cream, whipped. Line mold or loaf pan with lady fingers - about 9 small lady fingers or 9 strips of sponge cake are needed. Chill in refrigerator. Serve with additional whipped cream. Serves 5-6. |
