PECAN PIE SURPRISE BARS 
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg
1 c. chopped nuts

Grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9 inch pan. Reserve 2/3 cups of dry mix for filling. Combine cake mix, butter and egg until crumbly. Press in prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Prepare filling.

FILLING:

Reserved cake mix
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
More chopped nuts (opt.)

Mix together. Pour over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until filling is set. Cut into 36 bars.
