PECAN PIE SURPRISE BARS 
1 pkg. yellow or butter cake mix minus 2/3 c.
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 egg

FILLING:

2/3 c. reserved cake mix
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9 inch pan. In large bowl combine crust ingredients until crumbly and press into bottom and sides of pan. Bake about 15 minutes until light brown (will puff up so press down to form crust with back of large spoon). Prepare filling and beat 2 minutes, pour into partially baked crust and sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until filling is set.
