TWINKIE CAKE 
1 yellow cake mix
5 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. shortening

Bake cake in 9 x 13-inch pan as directed. Cool completely. Split cake in half and fill with filling:

Pour flour and milk in small saucepan and thicken. Do not scorch. Cool completely. Will be thick. In large bowl, cream butter, shortening and powdered sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add salt and vanilla. Gradually add flour and milk mixture. Spread between layers. (Chocolate cake may be used for "Susie Q" cake.)
