5 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. hot mashed potatoes
1 c. sweet milk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs well. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Mash potatoes and add to above. Add milk. Mix and add dry ingredients. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until knife comes clean.

BOILED ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
Vanilla
Little butter

Boil until hard. Drizzle on cake. If too hard, add hot water.
