POLISH CABBAGE SOUP 
1 cabbage head
1 tbsp. oil
Salt
1 lg. onion
1/2 lb. meat

Saute onion, chopped, in oil until almost brown. Add meat. Add thinly sliced cabbage. Mix, cover and simmer over low heat stirring frequently. Continue to simmer 1 hour. Then add 3 cups water and 1 teaspoon sugar (or Nutrasweet), 1 tablespoon vinegar (to taste). Cook another hour to reduce. Can be served with either boiled or mashed potatoes on the side.
