BLACKBERRY JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. blackberry jam

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Blend well. Sift together flour, cinnamon, allspice, salt and cloves. Stir 1 teaspoon baking soda into 1 cup buttermilk. Add to creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add jam. Pour into greased and floured tube pan or 2 large layer cake pans. If using tube pan, bake in 300 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until done. For cake pan, bake 300 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Frost with caramel icing.
