LATTICE TOPPED HAMBURGER PIE | |
1 lb. ground beef 1 lg. onion, chopped 3/4 c. celery 1/2 c. green peppers 1/2 clove garlic, minced 1 tsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 can condensed tomato soup 1 c. frozen cut beans 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/8 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shredded American cheese 2 tbsp. vegetable shortening 1/3 c. milk In large skillet cook beef, onion, celery, green peppers and garlic until beef is brown. Drain off fat and stir in chili powder and pepper, cook one minute. Add soup and green beans, then bring to a boil. Turn into a 8 x 1 1/2 inch round baking dish. Meanwhile, in mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening and cheese, add milk and mix well. Form into a ball and roll crust to a 9 inch square about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 18 1/2 inch wide strips on top of casserole forming lattice crust. Trim edges pressing down slightly. Bake uncovered in 450 degree oven 15 minutes or until golden brown. |
