JOY'S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM 
1 qt. half & half
1 pt. whipping cream
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat all ingredients together in blender or mixer. Pour into freezer. Add milk to 1/2 inch below fill line. Add sugar to taste (approximately 1/2 cup). It will be sweeter before it is frozen. Use fine crushed ice to pack freezer (4 cups ice to 1/4 cup salt). Churn until it stops, then pack in ice.
