BARBECUED RIBS 
4 lb. spareribs
1 c. catsup
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. celery seed
3 tbsp. liquid smoke
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 c. water
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. brown sugar

Brush ribs on both sides with liquid smoke. Let stand about 30 minutes. Place in roaster, fat side up. Bake in very hot 450 degree oven about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.

Combine remaining ingredients, heat to boiling point and pour over ribs. Reduce heat to moderate. Cover ribs and bake about 1 1/2 hours, basting several times. Remove cover; bake about 45 minutes longer or until well done, basting frequently.
