APPLE CRISP 
4 or 5 med. sized tart cooking apples, cored, peeled & thinly sliced
6 tbsp. firmly packed light brown sugar
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 c. unsifted all purpose flour
3/4 c. uncooked, quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. water
1 c. heavy cream, whipped or 1 pt. vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread the sliced apples over the bottom of a greased 8"x8"x2" baking dish. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour and oats, then stir in melted butter. Spread this mixture over the apples. Pour the water evenly over the top. Bake, uncovered until the apples are tender, about 30 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with the whipped cream or ice cream, if desired. Serves 4.
