MAMA'S PECAN PIE | |
This recipe was passed down to me from my mother. It was originally made with ALAGA syrup. I have substituted Karo syrup and it turns out good. If you can still find Alaga syrup (it was made in Montgomery, Alabama according to the label mother had in her recipe box) then I would use that for the syrup. I just know this was yummy. 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/2 cup Alaga syrup (cane syrup) 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 tsp. pure vanilla 1 cup chopped pecans 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt butter in saucepan and stir in flour until smooth. Add Alaga syrup and sugar; boil for 3 minutes. Cool mixture and slowly blend in eggs, vanilla and pecans. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Submitted by: Cheryl Ann Lee |
