HOT LETTUCE 
1 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
1 small onion, chopped
1 head lettuce, torn
1/3 c. vinegar
2/3 c. water
dash of salt
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten

Place bacon, onion and lettuce in a bowl. Place vinegar and water in a medium size saucepan. Add salt, sugar and egg. Cook until thickened, stirring often. Pour this over lettuce mixture. Mix well and cover until lettuce is wilted. Serve immediately.

You may use spinach, endive or other greens, also.
