PATTY'S HOMEMADE BACON BITS | |
Great on salads and baked potatoes! Any bacon grease leftover can be stored in the refrigerator for seasoning purposes. 1 (16 oz.) pkg. bacon (about 16 slices) 1 jar with a good seal Using a microwave safe dish, place 4 or 5 slices and cover. set to cook 5 to 6 minutes (microwaves will vary). At the end of the cooking time, check slices, they should be very crisp and brown. Take each batch out of microwave and place between paper towels to extract excess fat. After all slices have been cooked, let bacon, sit until cool, continue expressing the fat out of the slices by changing the paper towels. When slices are cool and very crisp to the touch, with a fresh paper towel, crunch with fingers until desires bits are formed. Let stand another 5 to 10 minutes, before placing in clean air tight jar, store in refrigerator up to two weeks. Submitted by: Patty Ray |
