SNICKERDOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening (butter works well)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Sugar Mixture:

2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together the shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of a walnut. Roll balls in sugar mixture. Place 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake until lightly browned but still soft at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
