2 lb. ground beef or ground turkey 1 onion, finely chopped 1 cup finely chopped green pepper or red bell pepper 1 cup finely chopped celery 1 1/2 cups ketchup (Hunts) 6 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar 3 1/2 tbsp. white or brown sugar* 4 tbsp. yellow mustard 3 tsp. celery seed 5 cloves of garlic, minced 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. paprika 1 tbsp. dried parsley 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional) In a large saucepan, sauté ground beef or turkey until brown. Add onion, green or red pepper, and celery and continue to cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables begin to soften. Add the remaining ingredients and cover; simmer on low for 30 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns or over cooked white rice. Serves 8 to 10. Note: If using brown sugar, add during the last 10 minutes of cooking time; otherwise it may burn. Submitted by: Diane |
