DATE FILLED COOKIES 
3 c. rolled 5-minute oats
3 c. white flour
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sour cream, fill c. with sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix all dry ingredients, putting salt, baking powder, soda and cinnamon in flour and sifting together. Add the cup of butter. Mix well. Add cream and mix. Roll thin and cut in rounds. Place following filling between rounds before baking, pressing edges together firmly around filling.

FILLING:

1 1/2 lb. dates, cut up
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cut dates and put on to cook with little water, cook 10 minutes. Add sugar and butter. Let cook 1 minute longer. Add vanilla. Cool before using. Bake at 400 degrees.
