CALIFORNIA POT ROAST 
1 (4-5 lb.) beef chuck roast (round or rump roast can also be used)
1 env. dried onion soup mix
1 env. dried beef & mushroom flavor soup mix
1 (8 oz.) carton cottage cheese

Place roast in Dutch oven or heavy casserole. Sprinkle the onion mix over meat. Spread the cottage cheese over this and then sprinkle the dried beef mushroom soup mix over all. Cover and bake in a 250 degree oven (slow) for 4 hours. If you use a rump roast, you may have to add a little water, but not on chuck. The juices will thicken naturally and are delicious as gravy over potatoes.
