CHEWY CURRANT BARS 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. shredded orange peel (set aside)
1/4 c. orange juice
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. dried currants
1 c. flaked coconut
3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
4 tsp. orange juice

In saucepan melt butter over low heat; remove from heat. Stir in granulated and brown sugars. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each. Blend in 1/4 cup orange juice. Mix flour with soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves; stir into egg mixture. Fold in currants and coconut. Spread in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes. Combine powdered sugar, the 1 teaspoon shredded orange peel, and 4 teaspoons orange juice. Drizzle over warm cookies. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 48.
